Why Just Ride?
Millions of people are in slavery. 1 in 4 are children. Many refugees, including those who fled Ukraine, can be targeted by traffickers. This shouldn't still be happening.
By cycling you can protect women, children and refugees from trafficking. Whether you are cycling solo, with your mates or kids - you can join us by cycling and fundraising to stop trafficking in its tracks.
Here's some ideas for goals to get you started:
Choose a time or distance goal or make your own
Ride 30 hours for Antonia from Romania
Antonia* was trafficked to the UK on a 30-hour journey that led to her being sold for sex and enduring eight months of severe physical violence. The traffickers have now been convicted. IJM Romania's social worker who supported Antonia during the hearing said, 'Thanks to Antonia's courage and bravery, the world is safer today.'
Ride 12 hours for Mala from South Asia
Mala was enslaved doing gruelling work 12 hours a day at a sugarcane farm amongst snakes and scorpions before she and her family were brought to safety.
Ride 250 miles for Godwin from Ghana
Children's lives are at risk working on fishing boats on the 250 mile long Lake Volta. Godwin couldn't stay silent when he knew his friends were still being trafficked - he had to go back for his friends.
Mim - why I signed up to Just Ride for IJM UK
"I know that one little ride won’t solve the issues IJM’s global teams tackle every day, but this was one step towards that.
And the great thing is that one step, by lots of people, makes a movement. A movement towards ending slavery in our lifetime. And that is something I want to be a part of."
Just Ride like Kyle and Jonah who set themselves a 30 day goal to walk, run and cycle 300kms and raised over £2,100!
"Our parents had been giving us ideas to do something good with our spare time.
We chose IJM because it was a cause everyone can get behind.
IJM are a worthy and wonderful organisation that are doing so, so much good in this world!"
