People deserve to be protected from violence.

IJM works to protect people in poverty from everyday violence, modern slavery and human trafficking.

Millions of people are at risk of unchecked violence —crimes like slavery, violence against women and children and police abuse of power.

International Justice Mission is a global organisation with a model to protect people in poverty from violence and exploitation.

Here's how IJM works:

Here’s a closer look at our model to protect people from violence and trafficking.

Rescue and Restore Survivors to Safety

First, we find the children and adults who are victims of violence, forced labour, or sex trafficking. Then, we support local police to bring them to safety. Once they're safe, we make sure survivors' everyday needs are met. We partner with organisations to give every survivor a safe home, food, medical care, counselling, education, and a tailored plan to build strong futures.

Work with Authorities to Bring Criminals to Justice

Second, we make sure criminals cannot continue to harm their victims. We support the police in investigating, arresting and prosecuting slave owners and traffickers with crimes, and IJM lawyers work tirelessly to make sure justice is served.

Prevent violence from happening in the first place

Once survivors of slavery or trafficking are brought to safety and their abusers are in prison, we address the root causes of slavery and violence. By working alongside justice system officials we can ensure that criminals are held accountable, therefore stopping the cycle of violence and deterring others from abusing those who are most vulnerable.
