2025 YEAR IN REVIEW
Behind every number is a future in freedom.
MILLIONS OF PEOPLE
wake up each day to a harsh reality: when violence goes unchecked, it destroys the safety people need to flourish.
But together, we’re creating a new reality.
By supporting IJM, you’re helping build safer communities across 19 countries where people can live free from fear and reclaim moments once stolen by violence.
Because of you, survivors can experience moments like watching their baby take their very first steps after escaping years of exploitation. Attending school for the first time after being forced to work in a treacherous fishing industry as a child. And boldly advocating for change in their community without fear of violence in the wake.
On behalf of all who are free from violence today because of you —
THANK YOU.
THANKS TO YOUR SUPPORT IN 2025
12,224 PEOPLE BROUGHT TO FREEDOM
And one baby born into freedom.
No baby should be born into slavery. But for families trapped in generational debt bondage, this is a reality.
Nikita was one of 27 people forced to work on a sugarcane farm in South-East Asia even through her pregnancy.
The day she held her baby for the first time was the day her family was brought to freedom after 10 years.
When one labourer escaped and sought help, local police—recently trained by IJM—were equipped to act.
They brought all 27 people to safety and secured Release Certificates within 24 hours, cancelling their false debts for good.
Today, Nikita can watch her daughter take her first steps in freedom.
382 SURVIVORS RESTORED
And one community in El Salvador found healing.
Everyone deserves to live in safe communities where they can flourish. But in El Manantial, El Salvador, violence took hold—leaving women and children especially vulnerable.
Through a partnership with IJM, women were equipped to report violence, begin healing, and support one another.
From that work, Las Comadres was formed—El Salvador’s first survivor group.
Today, they are transforming a courtyard once marked by violence into a place of healing for their community.
44,946 OFFICIALS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS TRAINED
And two boys on Lake Volta brought to safety.
When a fisherman spotted two young boys alone on Lake Volta, something didn’t seem right.
They had been on the water for days—paddling, sleeping in their canoe, and fleeing a man who had forced them to work.
The fisherman brought them ashore and alerted local police. An IJM-trained officer recognised their vulnerability and placed them under protection, ensuring they could recover in safety.
Because one man acted—and authorities were equipped to respond—these boys were brought to freedom.
Today, they can enjoy childhoods in freedom
3,287 CRIMINALS RESTRAINED
And hundreds of children are now safe in the Philippines.
Everyone should expect to be safe and protected in their communities—both offline and online. Convictions send a clear message: abuse will not be tolerated.
When Mejia was arrested and convicted for trafficking children and selling child sexual abuse material, it not only protected hundreds of children—it signalled that this crime is being taken seriously. After a citizen report led to his arrest, investigators uncovered abuse affecting more than 100 people, and his conviction resulted in multiple life sentences.
Because justice systems are taking action, communities are becoming safer—and exploitation is being stopped.
