Esther was only a child when she was taken to the lake to work as a slave.

Day after day, for nearly a decade, Esther was abused and forced to do exceedingly dangerous work with no hope of returning to her family. Yet, in a story of true bravery, Esther is now free. This special five-week series is a unique chance to get to know Esther, a girl who was once trapped and now has hope for her future. Through these podcasts we delve deeper into the complex issue of slavery on Ghana's Lake Volta, seek to understand the mindset of Esther's captors and get inspired by the relentless compassion of children like Esther and Geoffrey.
