IJM UK appoints new CEO
Summary:
June 2026
IJM UK is delighted to announce the appointment of Amanda Nelson as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Amanda brings over a decade of CEO experience leading and growing large organisations across Europe, most recently Vodafone Ireland. She has built thriving teams, strengthened brands, and delivered meaningful social impact at scale.
Her appointment comes at a significant moment for IJM globally, as we continue working with governments, local authorities, and survivor leaders to strengthen justice systems to protect 300 million people from slavery and violence by 2030.
Amanda shares:
“I am so delighted and humbled to be joining IJM UK at this time. What a privilege to be part of a global movement working to bring people to safety and strengthen justice systems.
200 years after the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade, I believe the UK can again be a powerful force for change. Together, we can help protect more people from violence and create lasting freedom. I can’t wait to join each of you on this mission ahead.”
As Amanda steps into this role, IJM UK also honours Biju Mathew for his service as Interim CEO.
Biju has been part of the IJM global family for 16 years and has brought wisdom, stability, and deep expertise during this important transition. His leadership has helped position IJM UK strongly for the future, and we are deeply grateful for all he has given to this mission.
This new chapter represents an opportunity to grow UK engagement, mobilise supporters, and strengthen advocacy for justice – helping bring more children, women, and men to freedom from slavery and violence.
