A 12-year-old boy has just been reunited with his mum after enduring four years of forced labour in South Asia.

He was only eight when a farm owner tricked his mum and trafficked him. For four long years, he was forced to tend over 300 goats, slept outside with no protection, and couldn’t see his family.

When IJM’s local partner, Adhiboomi Charitable Trust (ACT), learned about the situation, they worked with local officials who, with IJM’s support, brought the boy safely home to his mum.

A staff member described the reunion: “She joyfully embraced her son and said, ‘Finally, my son has come to me!'”

Local police have filed charges against the farm owner for breaking laws on forced labour and child labour – and they’re continuing to pursue justice for the boy and his mother.

Today, this child is safely back home. ACT is providing ongoing rehabilitation support so he can begin to heal and rebuild life in freedom.

When you give to IJM, you help children like this 12-year-old reunite with their families and receive the care they need to start their healing journeys.

Together, we are giving hope to children and families around the world.
