IJM Statement on the Global Fund to End Modern Slavery

International Justice Mission (IJM) applauds the launch of the Global Fund to End Modern Slavery (GFEMS) and welcomes the leadership of the U.S. and U.K. governments in providing the foundation’s first grants. The GFEMS is an unprecedented effort to bring to bear public and private resources to confront modern day slavery. It is fitting that the GFEMS was launched at the United Nations General Assembly, which included the eradication of slavery in the Sustainable Development Goals, as it will collaborate with governments in slavery-burdened countries and help build their capacity to rescue and rehabilitate victims of slavery and trafficking, and to prosecute those perpetrators of these crimes.
