Earlier this month, the Philippine Survivor Network (PSN), in partnership with IJM’s Center to End Online Sexual Exploitation of Children (OSEC), hosted their first-ever conference titled “Survivor Conference: Models of Resilience and Collaborative Action for a Stronger Tomorrow”.

The conference highlighted survivor-led models and explored ‘The Voices of Empowerment’ report. This report, co-authored by survivor leaders, offers insights and a practical guide to working and interacting with survivors, based on IJM's Center to End OSEC’s collaborations with survivor leaders since 2022.

Ruby*, a survivor leader who shared the report’s findings at the conference, said, “Survivors shouldn’t just be the centre of your stories but co-authors of the solutions you develop.”

Several partners commented on the importance of the report. A representative from Communitails, who provide Animal-Assisted Services, shared that,

“The guidance is something I’m deeply grateful for…Survivor leaders are the ones who truly know what safety, support and dignity look like.”

In her closing call to action, Joy* - a leader of the PSN and social worker (pictured) - summarised, “Survivors are not just participants, but leaders and collaborators in the movement for change.

“Please never give up on engaging survivors. We invite you not just to support but to invest in survivor-led solutions. Make space for our leadership."

“This conference is just the beginning of deeper collaboration, louder voices and unstoppable hope.”

The PSN launched in 2023, supported by IJM. The group provides opportunities for members – who have experienced sexual abuse and exploitation - to develop their leadership abilities and to influence and shape decision-making that impacts survivors and future generations.
