Dominican Republic Rescue Operation Amid COVID-19: Six Rescued. Five Sex Traffickers Arrested.
One teenage girl and five adult women are now free from sexual exploitation after a successful rescue operation on May 23rd. As the sun rose for a new day in lockdown on the Caribbean Island, local officials from the Specialized Forces of Touristic Security (CESTUR), National Police, and the Prosecutors office, assisted by IJM, arrested five suspects: three American Citizens, a Haitian National and a Dominican. -

Last month, IJM supported Mumbai authorities in rescuing five girls and young women from a small, cluttered apartment where they were being repeatedly sold for sex. Police have also arrested a 35-year-old woman suspected of exploiting these victims to a network of private customers. -
