Katy Akester serves as IJM’s Vice President of U.S. Advancement, leading teams across the U.S. who engage constituents in fueling IJM’s mission by raising critical financial resources, advocating for justice through key legislature, and mobilizing a prayer movement. She leads in developing strategies and investments so that IJM teams around the world will have everything they need to do the work of justice.
Prior to her current role, Katy served as IJM’s Vice President of Strategic Partnerships, National Director of Strategic Partnerships, and started at IJM as a Director of Strategic Partnerships for the Pacific Northwest. Katy travels to speak about IJM’s work around the world and emcees IJM’s major fundraising events.
Before joining IJM, Katy raised support for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Chicago, Illinois, and managed JDRF’s largest fundraising event. She also served previously as the Women’s Director for North Dallas K-Life, a ministry connected to Kanakuk Kamps Christian sports camp. Katy graduated with a B.A. in Art History Criticism from the University of Arkansas.
Katy and her husband, Andy, live with their family in Washington, D.C.
