Benson Shamala has served IJM Kenya since August 2007 in various positions including Senior Social Worker, Director of Aftercare and as Casework Director. Benson always leads with a servant attitude and dedication to Christ. Benson has a passion to serve the poor and the oppressed. In 2014 Benson moved to Ghana where he was instrumental in setting up an IJM field office to combat child trafficking. Benson developed a robust program for caring for rescued children and rallied several partners to protect and care for trafficked children.
Currently Benson serves as the Deputy Field Office Director where he leads a dedicated team that fights police brutality in Kenya.
Benson holds a Master’s degree in Organisational Leadership from Eastern University, Philadelphia, USA, a Master’s degree in Sociology & Counselling and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, both from the University of Nairobi. He is married to Loise Shamala and they have two children, Mike Malcolm and Mark Maxwell.
