5. Read Scripture

You care about justice because God cares about justice. If you’re not sure why we’re asking you to make your life count for justice – this is why.

Time and time again throughout the Bible, we see God’s call to his people to ‘act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with him’ (Micah 6:8).

The Bible is clear: to seek justice is to worship God; to worship God is to seek justice. Why? Because God is a God of righteousness and justice. They are the very foundations of who he is.

We see this so clearly in Jesus. In Luke 4:16-21, Jesus shares that his priorities are for those who are in need, downtrodden, and oppressed. And Jesus’ death and resurrection show the ultimate defeat of injustice, pain, oppression, and death, for good.

The Bible is stuffed full of the call to justice. You care about justice because God cares about justice. Reading the Bible reminds us that we worship a God who hates slavery and injustice. A God who calls us to be his hands and feet and help build his kingdom of justice here on earth.
