Urgent Appeal: Not Here, Not Anywhere
No woman should experience sex trafficking.
But this is the shocking reality for thousands of women like Samara* across Europe – many of whom are trapped in the UK right now. The UK National Crime Agency recently reported a significant increase in referrals for modern slavery and trafficking.
This is urgent. If we don’t stop traffickers now, more women will be trafficked to the UK and sexually exploited on our streets.
Donate now to help stop sex trafficking in the UK and across Europe:
Trafficked to the UK from Romania by her 'boyfriend', Samara suffered shocking sexual and physical violence:
“I remember the first evening when I was on the street, I got beaten so badly because I wouldn’t get in anyone’s car.”
Samara was trafficked between the UK and Romania for five years and exploited for sex. She became pregnant as a result.
Over 120,000 people are estimated to be trapped in slavery in the UK. That number of people could more than fill Wembley Stadium.
Sex trafficking is happening right now in the UK. We urgently need your help to protect women like Samara.
We can’t turn away from women like Samara.
When Samara was being exploited here, she remembers people looking away and doing nothing to intervene:
“He beat me on the street and people just turned their heads.” - Samara.
Freedom and justice are possible.
With IJM’s support and Samara’s powerful testimony, four traffickers were sentenced to five years in prison.
Today, Samara is an ambitious florist, newly-wed and devoted mother: “She has the courage to do anything now. She trusts justice.” - IJM social worker
IJM has helped support 126 survivors of trafficking in Europe - the majority in the UK - and achieve 40 convictions since 2019.
