Around the world, IJM’s teams work with governments to strengthen their response to slavery and violence in order to end impunity and strengthen protection for vulnerable communities.

In order to end impunity and strengthen protection for vulnerable communities, IJM partners with global governments to strengthen their slavery and violence response.

We have seen that by increasing access to justice it is possible to reduce the prevalence of slavery and violence.

What does IJM UK do in terms of policy and advocacy work?

IJM UK seeks to share the lessons we have learnt globally with those in the UK working to bring about change around the world.

We seek to share the lessons learned from IJM's teams around the world to help inform the UK Government's response to slavery and violence, helping to drive interventions, policies and programmes which are ever more effective and sustainable.

The UK Government's voice has been crucial in shaping the modern anti-slavery movement. From the introduction of the Modern Slavery Act to the Call to Action on Modern Slavery at the UN General Assembly.

What policy and advocacy work does IJM UK do to tackle Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC)?

The UK has also been central to international efforts to tackle violence against women and girls, having invested an unprecedented £25 million in the What Works to Prevent Violence Against Women and Girls Programme. This programme built a worldwide evidence base on what preventative approaches to violence against women and girls are most impactful.

IJM UK welcomes the important work which the UK Government has done to raise issues of slavery and violence on the world stage.

An estimated 5 billion people live without the protection of the law. If we are to effectively and sustainably end violence against the world’s poorest and most vulnerable communities, we must first ensure that they can have confidence that the justice system will offer them protection.

We seek to share the lessons learned from IJM's teams around the world to help inform the UK Government's response to slavery and violence, helping to drive interventions, policies and programmes which are ever more effective and sustainable.
