Tineke Knigge: Deputy Director, IJM Rwanda
Tineke is a British-trained lawyer with significant experience in international legal work. She read Law with European Legal studies at Durham University, secured her training contract at Baker & McKenzie, and went on to work in their offices in Amsterdam, London and Brussels. Tineke made the decision to take a break from her career as a competition lawyer in order to serve as a legal fellow for IJM. Her experience as a fellow in South Asia and Africa led her to apply successfully for the Programme Manager job at IJM Rwanda. Tineke has subsequently been promoted to Deputy Director.

“I very much enjoy my role of managing our legal and program team in Rwanda. It is a privilege to use my education, skills and talents to help the vulnerable by securing justice where they have been oppressed and abused. Furthermore, you simply cannot buy the feeling of getting up in the morning genuinely excited about work, looking forward to the day, knowing that while elements of it will be more than challenging, it will also be extremely rewarding.”
