Alasdair Henderson: Legal Fellow, Rwanda, 2007 - 2008

Alasdair HendersonAlasdair graduated from Oxford University in 2006, with a BA in Jurisprudence. He went on to obtain a Masters in Law at the University of Pennsylvania and remained in the US to undertake work at the Washington D.C. based ‘International Centre for Not-for-Profit Law’.

“I enjoyed studying law and increasingly became interested in human rights issues, but I couldn't see clearly how this interest related to my faith. Hearing about the work of IJM opened my eyes to the fact that speaking up for those who are oppressed and acting as a voice for the voiceless is something that God passionately cares about and strongly calls his people to. The opportunity to serve as a Legal Fellow in Rwanda was a life-changing experience. It was a privilege to be involved first-hand in seeking justice for some of the poorest, most vulnerable people in the world, and I have been inspired to continue doing this kind of work in the future.”
